1970 saw the year that Omega was awarded the ‘Silver Snoopy Award’ for its role in the Apollo 13 mission dubbed the ‘Successful Failure’ ensuring that the mission went down in history after an explosion in transit to the moon. This made it impossible for the NASA astronauts to land on the moon and frantic efforts were made for their safe return – Without the Speedmaster, the critical 14 second burn might not have been possible with such precision.
